IT’S BEY DAY

“When you love and accept yourself, when you know who really cares about you, and when you learn from your mistakes, then you stop caring about what people who don’t know you think” Beyoncé

As you all might know, today is a holiday and it happens to be one of my favorite days of the year. Today is Beyoncé Giselle Knowles-Carter’s birthday. It’s only right that I celebrate like the dedicated hive member that I am and always will be. Growing up she was always a major role model and somebody that I admired as a person. Her body of work, the way she carries herself, how she treats other people, and how much she puts into everything she does makes me love her even more. There are only a handful of people I support everything they do and she is definitely on that list. When I was little I remember watching Destiny’s Child videos with my cousins and when it came time to reenact the videos I always wanted to be Beyoncé. Her music has pushed me, inspired me, and gotten me through a lot of major things I have gone through over the years. I love the fact that she is respected and lets her work speak for itself. She is the reason I became a feminist and pushed myself to become an even better person throughout my life. I always identified with her because I felt like we had things in common. She was born in the south and went to a private school all her life and made me feel like it was okay to be a black girl who wasn’t raised in the hood. I related to her family and relationship situations and admired how she always had this powerful aura about herself. She gets on stage and becomes this phenomenal entertainer, but she has this really calm quiet side to her. I would see her on the cover of magazines, in movies, interviews, speaking and singing in multiple languages, traveling, performing and thought to myself she really does it all. She is in a category all of her own and I love that about her. The way she gives back to the community and helps others and now the fact she is a mother of three just overwhelms me. I know she has an amazing team that helps her but the weight of the world falls on her shoulders and she carries it around and makes it look easy. That is amazing. I could honestly go on for ages about this woman because like a good bit of the world I am a huge Beyoncé stan, but it’s time to actually celebrate this day. Happy BEY Day!

XOXO ❤ ASHLEY
